1 HOOK/ATTENTION GETTER
Talk to students about how false information can affect their lives. Start with the Pizza Gate video as an example, followed by the TED Video Link about what circular reporting is. After both videos- discuss with students what they thought and if they have examples of their own. Why should it matter if news isn’t valid? Why would people put up fake information online? The focus should be how it affects information online for high school students.

The Eight Spiders is great because it’s something that’s very common AND it shows how much research goes into a journalistic verification of information. It shows students how much work real journalism entails and why it’s important to cite sources and look for facts.
Good Mythical Morning has interesting (and zany) examples of Viral Videos as well.
3 GUIDED PRACTICE
Students create a tri-fold brochure that targets an audience educating them about Digital Literacy. 4 WRAP UP
Activity:Other — Public Display of Work
After students create the tri-fold brochures, they are printed and given to libraries within the school and local community as a resource for digital literacy.
5 INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
While working in groups, each student is required to do independent research on their topic and APA cite their resources in the brochure.
